Taking Care of Your Combination Skin

Keeping combination skin looking its best can be a real challenge. Knowing the characteristics and needs of your skin will help you treat, protect and keep it healthy.

Cleanse to strike a balance between hydrating and oil control: use a gentle beauty bar for your face and hands and a moisturizing or nourishing body wash for your body.
Exfoliate 2-3 times weekly, focusing on T-zone area (forehead, nose, chin) with a gentle scrub.
Mask each week, apply a deep cleansing mask to the T-zone and a hydrating mask to the cheeks, neck and jaw line.
An alcohol-free toner will hydrate the skin – apply twice daily.
Moisturize using a lotion or emulsion during the day and at night.

Winter
Winter is typically the skin’s driest season, due to arid climates, cold temperatures and increased time inside with dehydrating heating systems. Apply richer, creamier moisturizers to the face and body at this time to help maintain the skin’s healthy hydration levels. Consider using a humidifier at home and at the office to add moisture to the air.

Spring
By spring, the skin is ready to shed layers of dead, flaky patches, so exfoliation will be a top priority. As the season progresses, you can shift to lighter cleansers and moisturizers in preparation for the warm months ahead.

Summer
For many, summer is synonymous with increased outdoor activity and sun exposure. Protect your skin with sunblock and moisturizers with SPF every day. Oil-free products are a smart choice to avoid shiny, oily skin and clogged pores.

Autumn
Autumn is a cool, refreshing transition from summer to winter and requires all the essential skincare basics—protection from the sun, thorough hydration and exfoliation.
